About RV awning model #'s

Awnings in general have 2 separate model #'s. One for the fabric roller tube assembly (frta), which includes the tube, fabric, and springs.

The second is for the hardware, in rv "awning speak" the hardware consists of the arms and mounting parts.

Different manufacturers have different names for corresponding parts.

A hardware set consists of arms & rafters, & mounting brackets.

Arms go from the roller tube to the bottom mounting bracket and consist of 2 pieces, the main arm or outer arm which is attached to the spring cap on the roller tube. The adjustable arm or inner arm has the adjustment holes in the side and slides into the main arm and attaches to the bottom mounting bracket.

Rafters go from the roller bar to the top mounting bracket and are also 2 pieces, the main rafter or outer rafter has the top mounting bracket and is attached to the coach. The secondary rafter or inner rafter slides into the main rafter and usually has a piece attached that slides in groves on the main arm.

Right hand? Left hand? Front or rear?

When standing facing your awning, the right hand is the front end of the awning and left hand is the rear of the awning.

A & E

Where to find the model #.

The frta model # should be found on a tag on the roller tube, "usually" at the front end.

The hardware model # should be found on the side of the main arm.

If you can't find the hardware model #, try and find the frta model # then compare the pictures on the parts pages of hardware applicable to your frta, to your hardware. There is sufficient detail to tell them apart, pay special attention the mounting brackets and the adjustable arm hole locations.

Faulkner Awnings

There are as far as we know 3 Faulkner models, standard/deluxe mid 80's and older. most easily identified by the "geared" plastic end cap at the front of the awning and the hooked upper mounting brackets.

Faulkner Royale, most easily identified by the handle on the face of the main arm.

Arms for the 2 above models are no longer available. Due to differences in how they operate current parts are not considered backward compatible.

Likewise fabric roller tube assemblies and their parts are no longer available, with the exception of replacement fabrics (not oem).

Ultra series

Includes: Ultra, Ultramax, Coleman Faulkner Ultra
Ultra series are most easily identified by the small latching lever on the right hand end of the awning.

Ultra series hardware model #'s consist of 2 letters and 1 #. Current #'s include UH-5, UH-7, CH-5, CH-7, BW-5, BW-7.

UH = gray or anodized,
CH = cream,
BW = polar white,
5 = standard - 63" to 73" mounting distance,
7 = tall - 74" to 86" mounting distance.

See the notes on our Faulkner parts page concerning changes.
